How do Facebook Stories work?
Facebook Stories are photos and short videos shown at the top of the feed for 24 hours. People and Pages often post the same Story to Facebook and Instagram at once. Download Facebook Story saves a public Story while it's still up, as a JPG for photos or an MP4 for videos.
Each Story slide is a separate file. A video slide is usually up to 20 seconds on Facebook; longer videos are split across slides.
How do I get a Facebook Story link?
On the Facebook website, open the Story and copy the address from the address bar. It starts with facebook.com/stories/. In the app, Stories don't always offer Copy link; if yours doesn't, open Facebook in your phone's browser, open the Story there and copy the address.
Does Facebook tell someone I saved their Story?
No. Facebook shows Story owners a list of the accounts that viewed their Story, but this page never uses your Facebook account, so saving a Story here doesn't add your name to that list or send any notification. Please use that responsibly: a Story is posted to disappear, and saving other people's personal Stories without asking can feel invasive.
Which Facebook Stories can't be downloaded?
Stories shared with Friends, close friends or custom lists can't be downloaded, and neither can Stories that have already expired. Most personal Stories are set to Friends, so this page is mainly useful for public figures, brands, news Pages and creators who post Stories publicly.
Your own Stories are in your Story archive: open your profile, tap the three dots and choose Archive → Story archive. You can download them from there.
