Which Snapchat videos can be downloaded?
Only public ones: Spotlight (Snapchat's short-video feed, similar to TikTok), public Stories from creators and public profiles, and Snaps people choose to share as a public link. Snaps and chats between friends are private, and this page can't access them.
Those public videos have web addresses like snapchat.com/spotlight/… or story.snapchat.com/…, and you can copy them from the app with Share → Copy link. Paste one here to save it as an MP4.
How do I copy a Snapchat Spotlight link?
In the Snapchat app, open the Spotlight video, tap the share arrow and choose Copy link. On a computer, Spotlight videos and public profiles can be watched at snapchat.com; copy the address bar from there. Links in the snapchat.com/t/… short form work too.
What quality are Snapchat downloads?
Snapchat videos are vertical, usually 720 × 1280 or 1080 × 1920 depending on the phone they were filmed on. We save the best version Snapchat serves for the video. Files are standard MP4 and open in any player or editor. Snapchat's lenses and stickers are part of the picture, so they're in the download exactly as you saw them.
Does Snapchat notify someone if I save their video?
No, not when you save a public video here. Snapchat tells people when someone takes a screenshot of their Snap or chat, but that's for private content inside the app. Public Spotlight and Stories are posted for anyone to see, and saving one from its public link here doesn't involve your Snapchat account, so no notification is sent.
That doesn't make it fine to save everything. Spotlight creators can delete their videos later for a reason. Use downloads for personal viewing, and ask before reposting.
How do I save my own Snaps?
For Snaps you made yourself, Snapchat's Memories is the better tool: tap the small circle under the capture button to open Memories, select Snaps and tap Export to save them to your camera roll. If Memories backup is on, they're stored in your account and survive a phone change.
To get everything at once, including Memories, chat media and Spotlight posts, open Settings → My Data and request your data. Snapchat emails a download link, usually within a day.
