Which Facebook video links work?
Facebook has a lot of different addresses for the same video, and all of these work: facebook.com/watch?v=…, facebook.com/username/videos/…, facebook.com/reel/…, the short fb.watch/… links that the Share button creates, and m.facebook.com links copied from a phone browser. Video posts from public Pages, public profiles and public groups can all be saved.
If you only have a link to a post that contains a video, paste that. We look for the video inside the post. Links to a whole Page or profile don't work, because they don't point at a specific video.
What's the difference between HD and SD Facebook downloads?
Facebook keeps two main versions of most videos: SD, usually 360p or 480p, and HD, usually 720p or 1080p. Some videos uploaded in 4K have higher versions too. We show the qualities Facebook offers for the video. HD looks much sharper on a computer or TV, while SD is a quarter of the size and fine for a phone screen.
Some HD Facebook videos are stored with the picture and sound in separate streams. When that happens, we join them into one MP4 on the fly, so you still get a single file with sound.
Can I download private Facebook videos or videos from groups?
No. We can only see what Facebook shows to someone who isn't logged in. That rules out videos posted to Friends, videos in private groups, and anything Facebook hides behind a login wall. We never ask for your Facebook login: a downloader that does is asking for full access to your account.
If you need a video from a private group you belong to, ask the person who posted it to send you the file, or check whether the group admin allows downloads. Facebook doesn't offer a download button for other people's videos.
How do I download my own Facebook videos?
For videos you uploaded yourself, Facebook has a built-in option: open the video on your profile, click the three dots and choose Download video (on the website). To get all your videos and photos at once, use Accounts Center → Your information and permissions → Download your information, and pick Posts and Videos. That gives you the files you originally uploaded, often at higher quality than what Facebook streams.
Can I download a Facebook Live video?
Live broadcasts can't be downloaded while they're live. Once the broadcast ends and the Page or person keeps the replay, it becomes a normal Facebook video with its own link. Paste that link to save it. Long live replays can be large: an hour at 720p is often 1 to 2 GB, so use Wi-Fi.
