How your body shape is worked out
Your body shape comes from how your bust, waist, high hip and hip measurements compare. This calculator uses the FFIT system from fashion research (Simmons, Istook and Devarajan), which sorts figures into hourglass, top hourglass, bottom hourglass, spoon, triangle (pear), inverted triangle and rectangle. For example, a 36-inch bust, 28-inch waist and 38-inch hips is an hourglass: bust and hips are within 2 inches and the waist is 10 inches smaller. Use a soft tape measure and keep it level.
