UUID Generator

Generate random UUID v4 or time-ordered UUID v7 identifiers in bulk, in upper or lower case, with or without hyphens. Cryptographically random. Free.

Unique IDs without a database

A UUID (universally unique identifier, also called a GUID) is a 128-bit ID that's practically guaranteed to be unique without any central registry. Version 4 is fully random (122 random bits), the most common choice. Version 7, standardised in RFC 9562, starts with a millisecond timestamp, so IDs sort by creation time, which keeps database indexes compact. UUIDs here are made with your browser's cryptographic random generator. Generate up to 500 at once, and format them with or without hyphens, in capitals or wrapped in braces.

How to use it

  1. 1

    Choose the version

v4 for random IDs, v7 for time-sortable ones.

  2. 2

    Set how many

    From 1 to 500.

  3. 3

    Copy them

One per line, in the format you've chosen.

Frequently asked questions

Can two UUIDs ever be the same?

In theory, but you'd need to generate about a billion v4 UUIDs a second for 85 years to have a 50% chance of one duplicate.

Is a GUID the same as a UUID?

Yes. GUID is Microsoft's name for the same 128-bit format.

When should I use UUID v7?

For database primary keys: their time order keeps inserts in sequence, which is faster than random v4 keys.

Are the UUIDs sent or stored?

No. They're generated in your browser and never leave your device.
