Reading military time
Military time uses the 24-hour clock, written as four digits without a colon: 0000 is midnight, 0900 is 9 AM, 1200 is noon and 1700 is 5 PM. To convert afternoon times, add 12 to the hour (3:15 PM is 1515); to go back, subtract 12 from hours above 12. It's used by armed forces, hospitals, airlines and emergency services to avoid any AM/PM confusion. Type a time in either format to convert it.

Is midnight 0000 or 2400?
Usually 0000, the start of the new day. 2400 is sometimes used for the end of a day, as in 'open until 2400'.

'Fourteen thirty'. Whole hours are said as 'hundred': 0800 is 'zero eight hundred'.
