How recurring deposits grow
A recurring deposit (RD) lets you save a fixed amount every month for a set tenure at a fixed interest rate. Banks in India compound RD interest quarterly, so each instalment earns interest from the month it's paid until maturity. The calculator adds up every instalment's growth the same way: your first deposit compounds for the whole tenure, your last for just one month. It's a disciplined way to build savings with a guaranteed return.

Frequently asked questions
What's the RD maturity formula?
Each instalment P grows to P × (1 + r/4)^(4 × months left / 12). The maturity value is the sum for every instalment.
Is RD interest taxable?
Yes. It's taxed at your slab rate, and banks deduct TDS above the yearly threshold, the same as fixed deposits.
What happens if I miss an instalment?
Banks usually charge a small penalty for each missed month. Missing several in a row can lead to the RD being closed early.
Is anything sent to a server?
No. Everything is calculated in your browser, and nothing you type is stored or sent anywhere.
