Sun times for any place and date
Pick a city or enter coordinates, and choose a date, to see when the sun rises and sets, how long the day is and when the sun is highest (solar noon). First and last light are civil dawn and dusk, when the sun is 6° below the horizon and there's enough light to be outdoors without lamps. Golden hour, the soft light photographers love, is the time the sun is less than 6° above the horizon. Times are calculated with the standard sunrise equation, including atmospheric refraction, and shown in that place's local time.

Frequently asked questions
Why do sunrise times differ from my weather app?
By a minute or two at most, because of rounding, elevation and local horizon. Hills and buildings can delay the sunrise you actually see.
When is golden hour?
Roughly the first hour after sunrise and the last hour before sunset, when the sun is low. It's shorter near the equator and longer near the poles.
What is solar noon?
The moment the sun is highest in the sky. It's rarely exactly 12:00 because of time zones and daylight saving.
Is my location used?
No. Your location isn't requested; you choose a city or type coordinates, and everything is calculated in your browser.
