Turning decimals into fractions

A terminating decimal becomes a fraction over a power of ten, then simplifies: 0.625 = 625/1000 = 5/8, and 2.375 = 19/8 = 2 3/8. Repeating decimals have exact fractions too. Put the repeating part in brackets: 0.(3) is 0.333… = 1/3, and 0.1(6) is 0.1666… = 1/6. The calculator works with exact whole numbers, so even long repeating patterns like 0.(142857) convert exactly to 1/7.
