Profit on a stock trade

Enter how many shares you bought, the price you paid, the price you sold (or might sell) at, and any commissions. Buy 100 shares at $50 and sell at $65, and you make $1,500, a 30% return. Commissions reduce the profit and raise the break-even price: the sell price at which you'd make exactly nothing. The result is before tax; capital gains tax depends on your country and how long you held the shares.
